It’s been six months since we launched our in-house Building Surveying consultancy service, and what a great six months it has been! The team has hit the ground running, delivering a range of building surveying services and providing reasoned, sound, practical advice to both internal and external clients.
Before we dive into some of the highlights, it’s worth reminding ourselves of the true value an experienced, competent Chartered Building Surveyor can provide to building owners and managers. A chartered building surveyor does not merely inspect buildings; they provide expert, reasoned advice which can influence the ongoing maintenance, management and investment of an asset. This is achieved through the provision of a range of services such as technical due diligence surveys, defect diagnosis, long term maintenance plans, condition assessments, project management and contract administration services, tenant alterations, dilapidations, and so on.
The expertise provided by a chartered building surveyor can help you:
- Understand the true condition of your property.
- Identify any risks such as structural issues, health and safety concerns, statutory compliance shortcomings, to ensure these are understood and managed to protect the asset and its users.
- Understand the ongoing maintenance requirements for your property, including the identification and rectification of defects, ongoing lifecycle repair and replacement, and budget costs to complete works.
- Manage a construction project from inception to completion including, including feasibility, preparation of detailed specifications, tendering of the works and analysis of returned tenders, administering the construction contract, monitoring the construction work and valuing works completed, certifying the completion of the works. This includes managing all stakeholders to ensure the client’s brief is achieved.
Our surveying services cover a wide range of needs, from inspections and defect analysis to technical due diligence and project and contract administration services. You can view the full range of services and make an enquiry by visiting our Valuation & Building Surveying Services page.
Surveying: Our 2025 Round-Up
Over the course of 2025, our Surveying team has:

- Responded to urgent and complex defects, including significant water ingress, structural cracking, and even the collapse of 100-year-old boundary walls
- Worked across a diverse range of building types, from modern methods of construction to heritage assets dating back to the 1800s
- Acted as Contract Administrator for a pitched roof refurbishment within a conservation area, alongside courtyard and concrete repair works to a car park
- Supported clients as Project Manager, facilitating Gateway 2 and 3 procedures for an amenity fit-out within a higher-risk building
