Menopause leave included in industry-leading benefits package by Centrick

Time off to deal with the effects of the menopause and maternity bereavement are included in a generous package of enhanced staff benefits being introduced by property specialist Centrick, including dedicated menopause leave.

In an industry perceived as having a relatively high turnover of staff, Centrick is leading the way in providing a raft of rewards to encourage employees to remain at the company long term to pursue their careers.

Gemma Powell, people director at Birmingham-based Centrick, said: “People have always been the core of our success and I think it’s important to recognise that for a business of our size we already had generous benefits and rewards. What we are offering now is a market-leading package with some benefits that are only just starting to be recognised by multi-national firms, such as paid menopause and parental bereavement leave.

“We will continue to stay abreast of what’s happening across the UK employment landscape to not only stay competitive and relevant in the market but also attractive, forward thinking, progressive and innovative.”

The enhanced package includes paid parental bereavement leave, healthcare, increased sick pay, increased employer pension contributions, improved pay for adoption, maternity, paternity and shared parental leave, and menopause leave of up to three paid days per year.

Gemma added: “Around 52% of our team are women. We are fostering an age and gender inclusive workplace. We have therefore decided to introduce menopause leave, supporting women through what can be a very challenging time.

“We also wanted to do something that would impact everyone so as well as enhanced leave we’ve also signed up to Medicash so that everybody, in all roles, has access to cover for dental, optical, physiotherapy, a virtual GP service and a host of other benefits.

“We’re proud of our diversity, at all levels throughout the business, and we wanted to enhance our total reward package to support all our employees through their key life events; to celebrate their successes and to support as much as we can during the tougher times. Our people are really important to us and this is our way of showing them we care.”

James Ackrill, founder of Centrick, said: “Over the last 18 years our business has been a huge success and we have grown significantly even over the last 18 months. We recognise that we are a service business and it is our people that are key to both our success and maintaining our exceptionally high standards. We need to keep and nurture them.

“We have grown in a very measured and considered way and we decided now was the right time to launch these enhancements into what was already a very attractive benefits and rewards package, providing more care and support to our employees when they need it most.”

Gemma added: “We run a quarterly engagement survey as we really value employee feedback. Our decisions on what to provide and enhance has come directly from our workforce – they said, we listened, and we delivered.”
